1 Projects on export promotion
(1) Prefectural product events and business meetings
① Thailand
a. Sales Promotion
We carried out In-store promotion and sales campaign of Fukushima’s peaches, pears, apples and Partially-dried Japanese persimmons by placing sales demonstrators. Also, we sold them on e-commerce and advertised them on SNS.

② Malaysia
a. Sales Promotion
We exported Fukushima’s Wagyu to Malaysia for the first time and carried out sales promotion at retail stores and restaurants. Tasting sales of Fukushima’s peaches was also held at importer’s directly managed store by placing sales demonstrators.

We supported Fukushima’s food manufactures to promote export by placing overseas sales agents because going abroad for business purpose was really difficult due to COVID-19 pandemic.

(2) Business Support Projects
①Overseas Market Development Subsidies
a. Overseas Business Meetings and other activities
・Overseas travel expenses
We subsidize the members who go abroad to have a business negotiation or conduct sales activities.
Number of actual subsidies: 0 (Subsidy upper limit 80,000 yen per case)
・COVID-19 special allowance
We subsidize costs of required tests such as PCR and costs of issuing a negative COVID-19 test result for overseas business travel.
Number of actual subsidies: 0 (Subsidy upper limit 20,000 yen per case)
b. Overseas test marketing
We subsidized costs of survey for product development and advertising costs which had been spent to conduct overseas product research.

c. Preparation for export (ex. create a web site)
We subsidized costs of making an electronic catalog to participate in overseas online exhibitions.

d. Participation in overseas exhibitions, trade fairs and business meetings, including online ones

We subsidize costs of acquisition and renewal of international certifications which are helpful to differentiate Fukushima’s products from other countries’ origins.

f. Compliance with laws and regulations required by importing countries
We subsidized costs of complying with the laws and regulations required by importing countries.

We subsidize costs of applying foreign patent about Intellectual Property Rights.

(3) Organization of Trade Promotion System
We assigned a specialist called “Overseas Market Development Manager” to coordinate with trading companies and hold business meetings in order to organize the prefecture’s trade promotion system.
2 Strengthening overseas market development of prefectural products
We continued to assign temporary staff and conducted export survey. Also, we cooperated with JETRO and held several seminars on export strategies for market development.
We also hired a temporary staff member who is fluent in English for support to promote and export prefectural products such as Japanese sake which represent Fukushima.
3 Developing Human Resources, Information collection and provision services
(1) Collecting and providing information on overseas economics
We provided information on exhibition events, trade control systems of various countries, and information on import restrictions on prefectural products obtained by JETRO Fukushima and other economic organizations, to our members through email and our website.
